Attribution that survives scale
Lost attribution is the quiet scaling killer: the campaign works, the dashboard says it doesn't, and a winner gets killed. Ten minutes of setup before the first euro of spend prevents all of it.
1 · Campaign keys — your only clean read
Every link on the hub carries ?aff=your-id&cam=campaign-key. The cam key flows into Digistore24 reporting, so it is the one label that follows a sale all the way to commission. Use one key per creative or ad set you will ever want to read separately.
| Traffic source | Key pattern | Example |
|---|---|---|
| Meta / Facebook | meta-{angle}-{adset} | meta-sludge-b3 |
| Native (Taboola, Outbrain…) | ntv-{network}-{widget} | ntv-taboola-w41 |
| YouTube | yt-{angle}-{cut} | yt-locks-cut3 |
| Email (only possible with our prior written permission) | em-{list}-{send} | em-health-aug12 |
Rules that keep the data readable: lowercase, hyphens only, never reuse a key across channels, and agree the convention with Stefan before launch so our reporting and yours name the same thing the same way.
2 · What this covers
Every link on the hub — 13 offers in three markets: 10 German, 2 French and 1 US offer, each in its VSL, PDP and DTC formats where they exist. All of them run on Digistore24 and take the same parameters, so one setup covers them all. The US checkout charges in US dollars.
3 · Cookie length and who gets the sale
Digistore24 sets the affiliate cookie for up to 180 days in Europe and up to 365 days in the US, and the last cookie set wins the sale. Some older Digistore24 help pages still give a flat 180 days, so plan on 180 days for European traffic. Sources: Promolink · affiliate FAQ.
4 · Your pixel on the order form
In your Digistore24 account go to Account → Order form tracking. You can add a Facebook pixel ID, a Google Analytics ID, a pixel URL (loaded in an iframe) or your own tracking code — Digistore24 approves custom code before it runs. Each one fires on the order form, on the order confirmation page, or on both. For Meta server-side events, add a Facebook IPN connection under Sales & partners → Integrations. Sources: order-form tracking · Facebook Conversion API.
5 · Server-to-server postback
Go to Sales & partners → Integrations → Add new integration, pick the partnerships (our offers) and the order events that should fire. Pass your tracker’s click ID as cid on any hub link — for example ?aff=your-id&cam=campaign-key&cid={clickid} — and Digistore24 returns it as {cid}. We checked that cam and cid on a hub link reach the Digistore24 order form.
| Placeholder | What it returns |
|---|---|
{cid} | Your click ID from the link |
{campaignkey} | The cam value from the link |
{amount_affiliate} | What you earn on this transaction |
{transaction_id} · {transaction_type} | The order and the event type |
{product_id} · {product_name} | Which product sold, upsells included |
{country} · {currency} | Buyer country and order currency |
{is_test} | Marks test transactions |
You can add sid1–sid5 to a link, but Digistore24 lists no postback placeholder for them — put anything you need back in the postback into cid or the campaign key. Full list: Set up S2S postback.
6 · Test before you spend
Affiliates can’t place test purchases on Digistore24. Instead, open your integration and press Test connection: Digistore24 simulates a sale and sends it to your tracker, and the Log tab shows every call. Source: Set up S2S postback.
7 · Delayed CTAs on VSL pages
Our VSL buy buttons appear mid-video, not on page load. For young campaigns that means early micro-events (initiate-checkout and player engagement) are the honest early signal; switch optimization to purchase events once volume supports it. The volume-operator form on the hub asks for exactly this optimization model — that’s why.
8 · Running your own pre-sell into EU traffic?
If you put a quiz, listicle or advertorial in front of our funnel, GDPR applies to your page: non-essential pixels need a consent banner before they fire. Our funnel pages handle their own consent — your pre-sell needs its own. Budget for it; consent-loss is measurement-loss, not a reason to skip the banner.
9 · The pre-spend checklist
- Digistore24 ID entered on the hub — every link personalized
- Campaign-key convention agreed with Stefan (one key per creative or ad set)
- Click ID passed as
cidif you run a tracker - Pixel or postback set up, and Test connection shows the call in your integration’s log
- Market matched to your traffic: German (start with Germany, Austria and Switzerland), French or US
